Evan Goldstein | Charting Your Legal Career as a 1L

On March 29, 2023, the Connecticut Bar Association Future of the Legal Professions Scholars Program put on an event for Scholars of this program and college students entitled Charting Your Legal Career as a 1L.

Evan Goldstein, a shareholder at Updike, Kelly, & Spellacy, P.C. and Grace Hebbel, a partner at Saxe Doerenberger & Vita, P.C., both committee members on the CBA Future of the Legal Professions Scholars Program moderated a panel discussion to help the Scholars and students interested in attending law school to find success in the first-year of law school, build a resume at law school and prepare for interviews. The panelists who participated in Charting Your Legal Career as a 1L were: Christina Cruz, a second year law student at UConn Law School; Andrea Martin, a second year law student at UConn Law School; Shelby Ross, a third year law student at Quinnipiac School of Law; and Johnny Ross III, a Deputy States Attorney.  Each panelist shared their recent law school experiences and provided valuable insights in how to succeed in the classroom and get the most out of law school.

The CBA Future of the Legal Profession Scholarship Program aims to address the lack of diverse representation in the legal field and to increase the pipeline of talent that enters the legal profession in Connecticut. As part of this program, participants will receive a scholarship to take the LSAT preparation course and participate in events and programs to prepare them for their law school journey and to engage with the Connecticut legal community. Scholarship recipients will also have mentoring and networking opportunities before they matriculate to law school that prepare them to submit a successful law school application, apply for grants and scholarships, and be successful throughout their time in law school. Scholars will also meet with members of the Connecticut legal community to learn more about legal practice areas and career paths.
