UKS Creditor’s Rights Practice Group Chair, Thomas A. Gugliotti, was recently awarded the 2019 Service to the Profession Award by the Commercial Law & Bankruptcy Section of the Connecticut Bar Association. This follows the Career Achievement Award given to Attorney Gugliotti by the Section in 2017.  Attorney Gugliotti is a long-time member of the Commercial Law & Bankruptcy Section where he currently serves as a member of its Executive Committee, and was previously elected as the Chair of that Section.

On May 3, 2019, UKS Principal and Chair of the Firm’s Creditor’s Rights Practice Group, Thomas A. Gugliotti joined with U.S. Bankruptcy Judge James Tancredi and two others in a round-table discussion on mediation at the 2019 American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation & Solo, Small Firm and General Practice Divisions conference, held at the New York Marriott Marquis. Attorney Gugliotti, who is a long-time panel member in the Hartford Bankruptcy Court’s Voluntary Mediation Program, and frequently serves as court appointed and extra-judicial mediator in a variety of cases, with an emphasis on bankruptcy proceedings. Attorney Gugliotti was part of the committee which originally authored Chambers Order No. 1 in 1996, which established the Voluntary Mediation Program in the Hartford Court, as well as having worked with Judge Tancredi and others to revise and update that Order in 2017.

On Friday August 2, 2019, Christopher Brigham will be a featured speaker at a seminar hosted by the National Business Institute in Farmington entitled Employment Law: Advanced Issues and Answers. Attorney Brigham will discuss “Conducting an Effective Internal Investigation” and “National Labor Relations Board Decisions Affecting Unionized and Non-Unionized Workplaces”. Attorney Evan Goldstein was a judge at the inaugural Corridor Negotiation Competition at UConn Law School on March 9th where local law students from regional law schools competed.  This event was an opportunity for students to sharpen their negotiation skills by gaining valuable feedback from practitioners as well as a networking opportunity to get to know other law students with whom they will soon be practicing. The day consisted of two rounds of negotiation and several networking opportunities during lunch and the award ceremony.

On January 5, 2019, Attorney Evan Goldstein, Chair/President of the UVM Alumni Association Hartford Affinity Group, helped coordinate the Second Annual Networking & Job Fair event for students of the University of Vermont & recent graduates. This event was held at Keeney Manufacturing Co. & co-sponsored by the UVM Career Center. Students & recent graduates from UVM were able to speak with alumni & networkers in the areas of engineering, finance, marketing, sales, agriculture, education, health care, accounting, banking, IT, entrepreneurship, environmental, government & law. Students & recent UVM alumni attended this event from all over New England & the Tri-state area.

Attorney Welsh will have an office address & contact information at the NSBA Chicago headquarters but will remain as Counsel to UKS & will have his primary office & contracts at the UKS Hartford office.  Attorney Welsh is recognized for his work in commercial law & finance & other business law matters & will continue to supervise matters & serve UKS clients from its offices in Connecticut.
