Summer Associates

UKS' summer associate program provides law students with an immersive, 10-week experience working in a fast-paced, high quality law firm. Summer associates will be exposed to many different practice areas and will have the opportunity to work directly with senior attorneys who are recognized as leaders in their respected areas of practice. Our summer associate program provides opportunities to develop important skills through both assisting in and observing client interviews, depositions, closings, and many other day-to-day experiences with our senior attorneys and lobbyists. Our well-developed summer associate program provides a balance of work assignments and social events which allows the law students to gain a strong understanding of the firm's practice areas, entrepreneurial spirit and culture.

Work Flow 

An important part of the UKS summer experience is exposure to a wide variety of assignments across many different practice areas. We task one attorney at the firm the job of insuring our summer associates are exposed to many different practice areas and work directly with many different attorneys, while also getting exposure to an area of law in which the student believes he or she may have an interest. We encourage attorneys assigning work to provide guidance and feedback to our summer associates in order to foster a productive experience.

Mentoring

Each summer associate is paired with two-attorney mentors who meet with our summer associates at least once per week to help shepherd our summer associates through the summer. Our mentors' primary goal is to help the associates learn how best to succeed at UKS and become successful attorneys.

Social Activities

Success at UKS is about more than being able to do good work. We like to have fun and build friendships with our co-workers, and our summer social events are a key part of the firm's annual social activities. From trivia nights and summer picnics to attending Yard Goats games and casino trips, we like to give our summer associates the ability to socialize with and get to know each and every one of our attorneys.
