John A. Acampora is the Managing Shareholder of the firm’s East Haven, Connecticut office. He is a business attorney who has maintained a general commercial transactional and litigation practice for over forty-seven years. Prior to joining the firm, he was a founding member of Cohen and Acampora, a general practice business law firm that traces its origins to 1937. His practice is dedicated to providing comprehensive legal counsel to business clients and their owners.
Attorney Acampora’s principal areas of transactional practice include commercial and real estate finance, commercial business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and real estate transactions, succession planning, land use and environmental law.
In the litigation area, Attorney Acampora’s primary focus is on commercial litigation, personal injury, environmental and land use litigation, property tax valuation litigation, foreclosure and asset recovery litigation and complex criminal law matters for business clients in both Federal and state courts.
He serves as general corporate counsel to a wide range of business clients in a variety of industries, including automobile dealerships and repair facilities, vehicle recycling, marinas, construction, restaurants and banquet facilities, automobile recovery and towing, healthcare, medical transportation, maritime/petroleum terminals and manufacturing facilities.
In the real estate area, Mr. Acampora represents real estate lenders, developers and investors in all aspects of sales, financing, leasing, property tax and land use matters, and has extensive experience in the related areas of tax, construction, zoning and environmental law issues.
Attorney Acampora earned his J.D. from Suffolk University and is a graduate of Quinnipiac College where he earned his A.S. in 1964 and B.S. in 1966. He is admitted to practice in the State of Connecticut, the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut, the U.S. Court of Appeals, 2nd Circuit, as well as the United States Supreme Court.
