09/09/08 - Richard M. Dighello To Speak at MEDi2008, September 9 and 10, 2008 at Connecticut Convention Center
Richard M. Dighello will be speaking at a breakout session regarding Risk Management and Compliance at the MEDi 2008 Conference and Exhibition held at the Connecticut Convention Center on September 9 and 10, 2008.  Attorney Dighello is Session Chair for the discussion topic: “When No Press is Good Press – Recent Developments in Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Litigation - How to Keep Your Company’s Name Out of the Headlines”. 

Pharmaceutical and medical device companies are being sued at an alarming rate on a host of new theories of liability.  This session of MEDi 2008 will provide an overview of emerging and novel theories of recovery based upon consumer fraud statutes, direct-to-consumer advertising and off-label promotions  The panel will discuss the most effective defenses to these claims including federal preemption and the learned intermediary and sophisticated user doctrines.  Participants in this session will learn ways to identify and minimize legal risks inherent in their business and how best to prepare for possible litigation.
