Natalie A. Braswell is an associate in the firm’s Public Finance/Public Law and Corporate and Business Services Practice Groups.

Attorney Braswell has prepared bond documents in connection with the Firm’s role as bond counsel for the State of Connecticut Special Tax Obligation Bond program, drafted documents for municipalities in connection with their issuance of general obligation bonds and notes and has conducted research on various tax and public finance matters.  Ms. Braswell also has experience in the representation of lenders in commercial financial transactions and has drafted numerous grant and loan documents based on project proposals, and coordinated the closings of various grants and loans.
 
Attorney Braswell has conducted research on the numerous compliance issues associated with Employee Wellness Programs and how these programs open themselves up to the risk of litigation if they are not structured to comply with existing state and federal laws.  Attorney Braswell co-authored an article with firm principal Christopher Brigham entitled “Looking for a Healthy Balance:  Overly Aggressive Wellness Programs Can Prompt Litigation” which was published in the Connecticut Law Tribune.

 

While she was in law school, Ms. Braswell represented refugees seeking asylum before the Hartford Immigration Court and handled criminal and related cases for indigent defendants at the trial level in State Court.  For her efforts, Ms Braswell was awarded the Honorable M. Joseph Blumfeld Prize for service as an advocate on behalf of clients in the Asylum and Human Rights Clinic and Criminal Trial Clinic.  Ms. Braswell also served as legal intern for the Corporation Counsel’s Office in the City of Hartford, Connecticut.  In this position she researched and drafted legal memoranda, motions and pleadings, as well as summarized depositions, interrogatories and other case documents which assisted attorneys with case management.

 

Ms. Braswell received her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2007.  Ms. Braswell earned her B.A. in Political Science and her Master of Public Administration from the University of Connecticut in 2000 and 2002 respectively.
